2 Wheeled Walkers
A mobility aid with wheels on the front two legs and rubber tips on the back two legs. It’s designed to provide support and stability for individuals who need help with walking, allowing them to bear weight while moving without needing to lift the walker at each step.
4 Wheeled Walkers
A mobility aid with four wheels, handlebars, and often a seat, designed to assist individuals with walking by providing support and stability. Unlike traditional walkers, rollators don’t require lifting to move and allow for easier maneuvering, especially around turns. They are often equipped with hand brakes for safety and may include a basket or storage space
Walker Accessories
Cup holder: an attachment for your walkers, that allows you to have a place to put almost any type of cup, or bottle.
Cane holder: An attachment for your walker that allows you to attach a cane to your walker, without having to hold it yourself.
Soft/Hard baskets: a basket attachment that will allow you to carry things on your walker, comes in a soft material, or hard material. (Weaved, and plastic?)
Oxygen tank carrying baskets: a basket for your walker, that is able to hold an oxygen tank if needed.
Skis: Provides stability and support. Skis can simply be installed on the rear tips of your walker improving maneuverability on any uneven surface including pavement, tile, and carpet
Ball Tips: Tennis ball-like components that go on the back legs of two wheeled
walkers? Allowing for better mobility.
Transport Chairs
A lightweight, portable mobility device designed for short trips and caregiver-assisted movement. Unlike a standard wheelchair, transport chairs are not designed for self-propulsion; they are pushed by a caregiver, due to their smaller wheels. They are ideal for situations like short trips, outings, or use in hospitals and airports where portability and maneuverability are important.
Standard Wheelchairs
A mobility device, either manual or power-driven, designed primarily for individuals with mobility impairments to facilitate indoor or outdoor locomotion. It’s essentially a chair mounted on wheels, providing support and enabling movement for those who have difficulty walking
Canes
Regular canes: a simple assistive device primarily used for improving balance and providing stability during ambulation. It is typically a single-point cane made of wood or aluminum and is designed to offer a third point of contact with the ground, increasing the user’s base of support.
Quad Canes: also known as a four-point cane, is a type of walking aid that provides a wider base of support than a standard cane with a single point. It features four small feet extending from the base, enhancing stability and allowing for more weight-bearing. Quad canes are often used by individuals with balance issues, weakness, or those recovering from injuries or surgeries like hip or knee replacements
Folding Canes: a walking cane that can be collapsed into a more compact size for easier storage and portability. It’s designed to be a convenient mobility aid for those who need support and stability while walking, and appreciate the ability to store it easily when not in use.
Crutches
Standard Crutches: used to support weight and improve balance while walking, especially for individuals with lower extremity injuries or impairments. They consist in a pair, with a padded section that fits under the armpit (axilla) and a handgrip, allowing the user to transfer weight from their legs to their upper body.
Forearm Crutches: support the user’s weight by distributing it through the forearms rather than under the armpits. They feature a cuff that encircles the forearm, typically made of plastic or metal, and a handgrip for support. Forearm crutches are often preferred for long-term use due to their comfort and ability to facilitate a more natural gait.
