Questions about weight loss medications? A MINT PHARMACIST-LED PROGRAM
It starts with a conversation.
There’s a lot of noise about the new weight management medications—and a lot of questions nobody seems to be able to answer. Your Mint pharmacist can. Book a private, no-charge 20–30 minute consultation and get straight answers about your options, eligibility, real costs and coverage.
Education first. No Judgement. No obligation.
Do I need a referral?
No. You do not need a referral from your family doctor to book a consultation.
You can book directly with a Mint pharmacist to discuss your health history, goals and questions about weight-management medications.
Can a pharmacist prescribe weight management medication?
Yes. In Alberta, pharmacists with Additional Prescribing Authorization can prescribe prescription medications when clinically appropriate.
Your Mint pharmacist will first complete an assessment to understand your health history, current medications and treatment goals. If medication is appropriate for you, a prescribing pharmacist may be able to prescribe it as part of your care plan.
Am I eligible for weight-management medication?
Eligibility depends on your individual health history, current medications, treatment goals and other clinical factors.
Your consultation is an opportunity to review these factors with a pharmacist and understand what options may be appropriate for you. Booking a consultation does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed.
Can I book if I'm already taking a GLP-1 medication?
Yes. If you’re currently taking a GLP-1 or another weight-management medication, you can still book a consultation.
Your pharmacist can review your current treatment, discuss how it’s working for you, answer questions about side effects and help determine the appropriate next steps.
Do I need to see my family doctor first?
Not necessarily. You can book a consultation directly with Mint without first visiting your family doctor.
Depending on your health history or the results of your assessment, your pharmacist may recommend involving your family doctor or another healthcare provider in your care.
